Catechists and Evangelizers’ Congress

The first activity of our golden jubilee celebration in 2008 is the National Congress for Catechists and Evangelizers held at the MCST Compound, Tayabas City on January 9,10 & 11 with the theme “Catechists’ Continuous Renewal of Commitment: Onward for the Building of God’s Kingdom.” There were more than 800 catechists and evangelizers (including MCST sisters from the mission field) who participated on this congress. It was so overwhelming that even catechists from places without the presence of the MCST like Calapan, Mindoro, Iriga, Leyte and Davao attended the said congress.

The speakers or the three days congress were excellent: Most Rev. Socrates Villegas, Bishop of Balanga on Update on Catechesis and Commitment, Rev. Msgr. Gerry Santos on Prospect and Retrospect on Catechetical Ministry and Life and Rev. Msgr. Willy Andrey on the Servant of God Alfredo Maria Obviar’s Passion for Catechesis. Everybody were once again energized and challenged with the impact of the speakers words and inspiration. In every heart of a catechist, a lively faith and new vigor in proclaiming and witnessing the Word of God in the building of the Kingdom of God are the reassures that one carried as the three day national congress ended. Coordinators of this congress, Sr. Leonisa Racoma & Sr. Ma. Elizabeth Butay and their staff really worked hard in making this congress a successful one.
